Nearly 5 years ago, Ingo from Germany started the Dog temple that has now become a permanent home for about 70 abandoned dogs. He has been rescuing dogs for years, some of which are blind, beaten up by locals or abandoned by their owners who decided to give up on them.

Ingo takes them to the beach, feeds them, and helps them live a normal and loving life going for walks and runs.

One of the dogs who was adopted will finally get a chance to go to Germany into a permanent home or as rescuers call it ‘forever home.’

All of the dogs that are rescued by him, live together peacefully with a fixed mealtime between 9 to 9:30am .

Ingo says it can be a task to feed so many dogs together and any help is welcome.

The dogs that stay here are not chained. In fact they are well-fed, vaccinated, treated for ticks and looked after with a  lot of love and affection.

These furry friends have access to a beach behind the temple at all times and are found relaxing or playing among themselves in the temple’s shade.

Before the lockdown, people would help with the cooking, cleaning and take care of this place but now because of the risk factors our state of operation is the same as it was almost two years ago and the resources are limited.

Some people are still always eager to help, the temple sees more foreigners helping out than Indians.

The dogs keep getting dog-friendly gifts like beds, couches, colourful toys, ice cream, and new collars. Children as well as adults who come to play with them build a beautiful bond with these dogs.

The shelter and Ingo are sometimes on the receiving end of hate from the locals in the area who do not like the dogs or him running that place. He keeps the dogs in the vicinity to avoid conflict and keep them and myself safe, he says.
