Goa Tourism is marching forward under the capable guidance of its MD Mr. Nikhil Desai who always been striving to take the tourism industry of Goa to the next level and taking parts in various travel fairs is one of the initiatives of promoting tourism across the world. In one such recent initiative, the Goa Tourism bagged the ‘Best Stall Décor Award’ at TTF (Travel and Tourism Fair) held in Kolkata.
According to the sources, the TTF Kolkata was held from July 8-10, 2016 at the Netaji Indoor Stadium where over 315 exhibitors from 9 countries and 26 States and Union Territories participated. Goa Tourism showcased all its new tourism initiatives, activities, events, and facets which included heritage tourism, hinterland tourism, culture and cuisine, wedding tourism, events and a lot more.
The Managing Director of Goa Tourism Development Corporation, Mr. Nikhil Desai, led the Goa Tourism delegation to TTF Kolkata this time. The other delegates accompanied Mr. Desai to TTF were the GTDC Board of Directors, Mr. Gurudas Shirodkar and Mr. Jayant Jadhav. Besides the BOD the other delegates were consisting of the other officials from Goa Tourism and GTDC, Deepak Narvekar (PRO), Fernanda Vales(ATO) Dept. of Tourism, Prasad Kavlekar (Asst Manager Mktg), and Juliet Rebello (IA) Dept. of Tourism, said the sources.
The award of ‘Best Stall Décor’ was received by GTDC Board of Directors, Mr. Gurudas Shirodkar, Mr. Jayant Jadhav, PRO Mr. Deepak Narvekar, MKT MGR Mr. Prasad Kavlekar along with the other members of the delegation. The award was presented by Mr. Sanjeev Agarwal, CEO of Fairfest Media Ltd.
Following the awards ceremony the event Goa Evening was organized by TTF at The Lalit Kolkata was well attended by travel and tour operators and B2B sessions were held with Goa Tourism officials and Goa tourism industry stakeholders. Mr. Nikhil Desai gave a detailed presentation on Goa Tourism’s activities, initiatives and events and upcoming activities for the season. GTDC Board of Directors, Mr. Shirodkar and Mr. Jadhav also spoke on the various aspects related to the tourism.
During the three-day tourism fair, Mr. Narvekar, PRO and Mr. Kavlekar, Asst. Manager Mktg promoted GTDC‘s hotels, new tourism services and packages to visitors at the Goa pavilion. Goa Tourism and GTDC received an overwhelming response with spot bookings of packages at the Fair.
Goa attracts tourists from Kolkata in large numbers especially for festivals which begin from September. Goa’s culture and cuisine also make the State a hotspot for visitors from Kolkata. Travel and tour operators from Kolkata expressed eagerness to partner with Goa Tourism and its stakeholders to increase footfalls to Goa in the coming months.
The Tourism Minister Mr. Dilip Parulekar and Chairman GTDC, Mr. Nilesh Cabral have hailed Goa Tourism and GTDC’s achievements at the TTF – Kolkata and have further expressed confidence that tourists from Kolkata will make Goa their most preferred holiday destination.
