Goa Tourism is all set to celebrate World Tourism Day, tomorrow on 27 September to foster awareness among the community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values. Each year has a different theme and this year the theme is Tourism for All, Promoting Universal Accessibility. This year’s World Tourism Day, help us to spread the benefits universal accessibility has and can bring to society at large.

Mr. Dilip Parulekar, Tourism Minister of Goa said, “As you are aware, the theme for this year’s World Tourism Day is Tourism for All – Providing universal accessibility. We have achieved huge milestones in taking Goa Tourism to the world and it is our endeavor to ensure that tourists with disabilities also enjoy Goa tourism’s facets in a free and comfortable manner. Goa Tourism along with its stakeholders have a responsibility to cater to the needs of tourist who are differently-abled and we assure that all our tourist spots and tourism projects will give adequate accessibility to all such tourists who are in need of it.

On this occasion, I wish all tourists visiting Goa a pleasant stay and thank all our stakeholders for supporting Goa Tourism in achieving a lot during the last four years”.

Goa Tourism will commemorate World Tourism Day tomorrow through various programmes during the day.

Officials of Goa Tourism along with India Tourism will welcome tourists arriving on the first flight at the Dabolim Airport, followed by similar welcome programmes at the Margao Railway Station and Panjim Bus Depot.

As part of the CSR Activity, a special boat cruise has been arranged for Special Children giving them a unique experience filled with entertainment and fun.

A blood donation camp is also being organised by Tourist Guide Association from 9am to 1 pm at the Paryatan Bhavan.

Later in the evening at 5pm,  a lecture will be delivered on the theme of World Tourism Day by a four member team specialized in disabilities and accessibilities led by Ms. Anuradha Joshi, commissioner disabilities, Govt of Goa. at Paryatan Bhavan. This will be followed by a musical and cultural programme at the same venue.
