In the lush landscapes of Goa, Daniel Dsouza stands out as the region’s only Bonsai artist and a pioneering landscaping professional. With an MSc in Botany from Bombay University, Daniel defied his parents’ wishes for him to pursue dentistry or civil engineering, choosing instead to follow his passion for plants and gardening.

Daniel’s love for flora began at an early age and blossomed during his academic pursuits, where he conducted research on Anthurium. Upon completing his education, he returned to Goa to launch his career in landscaping. Today, he is a sought-after designer for high-end villas, with notable clients like fashion icon Ritu Kumar and cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, as well as prestigious resorts such as Radisson Blu.

His approach to landscaping prioritizes quality over quantity, focusing on crafting exquisite gardens that reflect his client’s tastes. Daniel also excels in floral design, having created stunning arrangements for five-star properties, including the Marriott Resort in Goa.

As a Bonsai artist, Daniel is passionate about sharing his expertise. Introduced to the art form by his father, he regards Bonsai as a living sculpture that requires love and meticulous care. He emphasizes that Bonsai, which translates from Japanese to “tree in a shallow container,” demands daily attention and a deep connection to thrive.

Recognizing that Bonsai can be costly, Daniel is committed to making this art form accessible. He offers free classes to those who wish to learn but cannot afford formal instruction, aiming to cultivate a community of plant enthusiasts in Goa.

A cancer survivor, Daniel has a profound appreciation for life and encourages others to prioritize self-care amidst their professional commitments. Currently, he is writing two books: one documenting his experiences with tropical gardens in India and another exploring antique collectibles.

Daniel believes in the power of good karma, advocating for kindness and accountability in daily life. He reminds us that true fulfillment comes from helping others and embracing our passions, no matter how unpredictable life may be.
