Mentored by the late Prasad Gadekar, a revered coach at the Bicholim Cricket Centre, Deepraj honed his skills, quickly making a name for himself. His dedication paid off when he secured a place in the Goa U-14 state team, marking the official beginning of his professional cricket career.

With limited access to quality facilities and financial constraints, he was often forced to make do with whatever was available.
